The Mouse and the Lion

The mouse and the lion is a fable by Aesop. I used the Ellison Die shapes for the animals and the text is from Scholastic. Somewhere along the way work had acquired a fluency workbook from them.

This was inspired by Storytime Katie. Instead of a stuffed teddy bear I made a felt teddy bear instead because the band-aids wouldn’t stay on the stuffed one. I made ten band-aids for this flannel. It is enough for each child to have a turn to come up and put one on the teddy bear. I rarely have more than ten toddlers at my storytime. You can always make more band-aids as needed. This teddy bear is about 14 inches long. It needs to be large enough to see and have room for all the band-aids.

“Oh, no! Teddy’s paw hurts! Please put a band-aid there to help him feel better!”

Have each child put a Band-Aid on each part of teddy bear that hurts.

Whose House?

I found this flannel board over at Sunflower Storytime. I used the patterns she provided as a jumping off point.

Cover each animal with its’ house, and let children guess! If they need extra help, make the noise of the animal (Moooo!) or give them a clue.
