Five Little Squirrels
Tune: 5 little ducks

1 little squirrel went out to play
Up in the branches one autumn day.
He had such enormous fun,
He called for another little squirrel to come.

2 little squirrels…
3 little squirrels…
4 little squirrels…

5 little squirrels went out to play
Up in the branches one chilly day.
They had such enormous fun,
Then all scurried home ’cause winter had come.

The Squirrel
These are the brown leaves fluttering down, flutter hands to ground
And this is the tall tree bare and brown. hold right arm up high
This is the squirrel with eyes so bright, form fist with left hand, wiggle thumb
Hunting for nuts with all his might. shade eyes with hand and pretend to look around
This is the hole where day by day, make a circle with thumb and forefinger
Nut after nut he stores away. pretend to put nuts into the hole
When winter comes with it’s cold and storm, sway hands side to side
He’ll sleep curled up all snug and warm. fold hands under cheek and pretend to sleep

Squirrel, Squirrel
Squirrel, squirrel, roll around
Squirrel, squirrel, touch the ground
Squirrel, squirrel, climb a tree
Now shake that bushy tail with me!

Songs

Walk Old Squirrel by Kathy Reid-Naiman
We walk, hop, fly, twirl around, run, chase, catch, and hug our way through the song.
Gray Squirrel by Kathy Reid-Naiman
Grey, brown, black, red
Shake your bushy tale
Pick an acorn with your toes
Wrinkle up your nose
