On My Toe There Is A Flea
On my toe there is a flea
Now he’s climbing up on me
Past my tummy
Past my nose
On my head where my hair grows.

On my head there is flea
Now he’s climbing down on me
Past my tummy
Past my knee
Now take that you flea

The Insects and Spiders
Tune: The Wheels on the Bus

The pretty butterflies fly up and down, up and down, up and down,
The pretty butterflies fly up and down, all through the day! flap arms like wings

2) The spiders in the tree all spin a web… roll arms
3) The crickets in the field hop up and down…bounce baby
4) The bees in the hive go buzz, buzz, buzz…fly with arms out

The Itsy-Bitsy Spider
The itsy-bitsy spider went up the waterspout.
Down came the rain and washed the spider out!
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain,
And the itsy-bitsy spider went up the spout again

Teeny weeny spider…
Great big spider…

Little Miss Muffet
Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet,
Eating her curds and whey. sign for “eat” – fingers to mouth
Along came a spider who sat down beside her, walk fingers up baby’s arm
And frightened Miss Muffet away! tickle!

I’m A Little Beetle
I’m a little beetle bounce
And I wiggle all day
If you get too close to me,
I’ll fly away! lift on the word fly

I’m a little bumblebee…
I’m a little Ladybug…

Five Little Flies by MaryLee Sunseri
I like to perform this song with a cow puppet. I put picture of 5 flies up on the board and pretend that the cow puppet swats them away with his tail.

Here is the Beehive
Here is the beehive
But where are the bees?
Hidden away where nobody sees
Watch and you’ll see them come out of the hive
1, 2, 3, 4, 5… They’re alive!
Buzzzzzzz

Itsy, Bitsy Spider
The itsy, bitsy spider,
Climbed up the water spout,
Down came the rain,
And washed the spider out,
Out came the sun,
And dried up all the rain,
And the itsy, bitsy spider,
Climbed up the spout again.

The Ants Go Marching by MaryLee Sunseri
Although there are many different versions of the song, I like the version on Sunseri’s “Grasshoppers Three” album because it stops at 6. 10 is a little bit long for toddlers to manage.

The Itsy, Bitsy Spider

A classic nursery rhyme. I always do this rhyme three times. The first as the itsy, bitsy spider. The second as the teeny, weeny spider. The third as the great big spider. The pattern for this came from Kate at Felt Board Magic.

The Itsy, Bitsy Spider,
Climbed up the water spout.
Down came the rain,
And washed the spider out.
Out came the sun
And dried up all the rain.
And the Itsy, Bitsy Spider,
Climbed up the spout again.

Teeny, weeny spider…
Great big spider…
