Kathryn Roach over at Fun With Friends at Storytime made up a set of five pencils and a cute rhyme to go with them. It is perfect for the toddler age. I chose a piece of clip art from Shutterstock to use as a pattern for the pencils. I was running short on time when I made these so they aren’t as detailed as other things I have created. At some point I will make a piece of notebook paper to go with them.

Five Yellow Pencils
By Kathryn Roach
Five yellow pencils are looking mighty fine!
I’ll use them to make some letters on a line.
My friend needs a pencil so I’ll give away one.
Now I have 4 yellow pencils for writing fun!
Four yellow pencils are looking mighty fine!
I’ll lay them out in a nice straight line.
A friend needs a pencil so I’ll give away one.
Now I have 3 yellow pencils for writing fun!
Three yellow pencils are looking mighty fine!
Their points are nice and sharp to write on the line!
Another friend needs a pencil so I’ll give away one.
Now I have 2 yellow pencils for writing fun.
Two yellow pencils are looking so fine
I can make different shapes by drawing some lines.
My best friend needs a pencil so I’ll give away one.
Now I have 1 yellow pencil for my writing fun.
One yellow pencil is looking mighty fine.
The last pencil left so it’s mine, all mine.
I’ll use it very carefully, since it’s my only one!
Then I’ll have it every day for my writing fun!
