December Holidays-Toddlers

Holiday storytimes always are a bit of a tricky subject to navigate depending on your patrons and the material you choose to use. Storytime Underground has a good summary of avoiding holiday themes all together. That said, the patrons I serve request Christmas and Hannukah storytimes I do both together in one go. Also, I have found it a bit more difficult to find flannel boards highlighting Hanukkah. I’ve managed to find one but am always on the lookout for more. I would love to hear if you have one to share.

Eight Little Reindeer

I went down the black hole of internet searches looking for the author of this rhyme and can’t find any attribution. However, I have also seen it titled “Call Rudolph”. Parents get a good chuckle at the last line. It has been quite a few years since I have made this flannel board and I think I used clip art for the pattern to make the reindeer.

Eight little reindeer pulling Santa’s sled
One fell down and bumped his head.
The elves called Santa and Santa said,
“Can seven little reindeer pull my sled?”

Seven little reindeer . . .
Six little reindeer . . .
Five little reindeer . . .
Four little reindeer . . .
Three little reindeer . . .
Two little reindeer . . .

One little reindeer pulling Santa’s sled
He fell down and bumped his head.
The elves called Santa and Santa said,
“Call Rudolph!”
