Down By the Bay

“Down By the Bay” has been sung by so many people with several variations. I like playing Raffi’s version because his sense of silly is understood by children so well. This set matches his lyrics. The animals are from the collections of Iana Kauri on Shutterstock. I think her clip art translates well into felt. The llama is my favorite animal of the bunch. The fly is currently wingless since I could figure out a good way to add wings.

Down by the bay, where the watermelons grow
Back to my home, I dare not go
For if I do, my mother will say
“Did you ever you ever see a goose kissing a moose?”
Down by the bay

Down by the bay, where the watermelons grow
Back to my home, I dare not go
For if I do, my mother will say
“Did you ever see a whale with a polka dot tail?”
Down by the bay

Down by the bay, where the watermelons grow
Back to my home, I dare not go
For if I do my mother will say
“Did you ever see a fly wearing a tie?”
Down by the bay

Down by the bay, where the watermelons grow
Back to my home, I dare not go
For if I do, my mother will say
“Did you ever see a bear combing his hear?”
Down by the bay

Down by the bay, where the watermelons grow
Back to my home, I dare not go
For if I do, my mother will say
“Did you ever see a llama eating pajamas?”
Down by the bay

Down by the bay, where the watermelons grow
Back to my home, I dare not go
For if I do my mother will say
“Did you ever have a time when you couldn’t make a rhyme?”
Down by the bay

Down by the bay
Where the watermelons grow
Back to my home
I dare not go
For if I do

Aikendrum

“Aikendrum” is well known to Raffi fans. I like using this flannel board with the music playing as we go along. It great for moon and silly storytimes.

There was a man lived in the moon, in the moon, in the moon
There was a man lived in the moon and his name was Aikendrum

And he played upon a ladle, a ladle, a ladle
He played upon a ladle and his name was Aikendrum

And his hair was made of spaghetti, spaghetti, spaghetti
His hair was made of spaghetti and his name was Aikendrum

And his eyes were made of meatballs, meatballs, meatballs
His eyes were made of meatballs and his name was Aikendrum

And he played upon a ladle, a ladle, a ladle
He played upon a ladle and his name was Aikendrum

And his nose was made of cheese, cheese, cheese
His nose was made of cheese and his name was Aikendrum

And his mouth was made of pizza, pizza, pizza
His mouth was made of pizza and his name was Aikendrum

And he played upon a ladle, a ladle, a ladle
He played upon a ladle and his name was Aikendrum

There was a man lived in the moon, in the moon, in the moon
There was a man lived in the moon and his name was Aikendrum
